About the research group

AI for Sensor Data Analytics is a research group within the lab “Biomechatronics” at the Institute of Medical Engineering and Mechatronics, Ulm University of Applied Sciences (THU). The research lab is a multidisciplinary lab comprising several research groups with common application areas, but different methods and medodic focuses.

Our research

We conduct research in the field of artificial intelligence with a focus on machine learning and deep learning for sensor data analytics. Whilst we develop methods and conduct in-depth research, we always focus on the concrete application of our methods in important fields of practice. The trustworthiness and explainability of our AI methods are a central element of our research.

We are creating methods for sensor data analytics for various kind of data like Inertial Measurement Units, cameras, 3D cameras, electromyography, electroencephalography and many more. Here we mostly apply methods from time-series classification.

Our research is applied in a multidisciplinary field, where we rely on a great network of researchers in different areas like computer science, medical engineering, medicine, physiotherapy and more.
